BLACK STAR BYRON BAY.

This house had great bones and just required a full cosmetic update the reno was completed in 5 weeks on a tight budget. The big idea was to create an inviting beach shack in an environment like Byron where competition is tough. Not wanting to mirror other properties in the area I chose a colour palette of Riverstone, Aniseed by Porters and Vivid white by Dulux. Using the natural environment the property is surrounded by great trees and the colour palette works beautifully together. We painted all the fencing and decking in Riverstone making it a real feature and keeping the maintenance low on timber. Re-cladding half the house the dramatic effect of Porters Aniseed in a matt finish pops against the Vivid white colonial feature windows and new doors and gates.

The interiors are all finished in Vivid white on walls and floors, except bedrooms are completed in a dark grey wool carpet to contrast against the white.

New french doors were replaced and all kitchen joinery was painted in the black matt Aniseed finish to update the kitchen.

A designer fireplace was installed and new light fittings throughout in varying materials such as leather, suede, steel, rattan and linen create a contemporary and stylish finish throughout the house. The existing window frames were sprayed in a white metal finish and the inside window frames were painted black to contrast against the interior walls.

New hardware was replaced throughout to modernise the house and act as feature pieces on joinery or door entrance ways.

A new bathroom and seperate toilet were gutted completely and replaced with feature encaustic flooring, spanish wall tiling and a paint finish to compliment in Dulux Teahouse.

Feature lighting, feature windows and accent bathroom fittings with a huge freestanding black bath were used to add drama, contrast and a wow factor to both rooms making it inviting and a place to relax in.

Modern and contemporary inside and out, the striking dark weatherboard exterior showcases the modern renovation of this holiday home and the theme continues inside, with a contrasting black and white palette within the open and airy living, dining and cooking space. Relax by the indoor fireplace, dine beneath the French windows or create meals in the sunny kitchen with black and white cabinetry.
