DEE WHY.
A large 5 bedroom and 5 bathroom property on the northern beaches was completely transformed over an 18 month period. What initially began in the brief as a cosmetic renovation developed into a full scale design and architectural transformation. Working closely with an architect on this job we created a beautiful new home to suit the style and personality of the clients. A love of art, design and high end finishes were natural choices for my clients and an appreciation of the creative process on this design journey.

The house was completely gutted throughout and only the charm and character of the library, internal stairwell and exterior decorative woodwork remained. All of the bedrooms were enlarged to double size rooms to suit the individuals, creating personal office spaces and ensuite bathrooms. Each bathroom was designed using high end finishes such as feature marble wall slabs, oversized porcelain tiles, natural stone, designer baths, as well as designer tap ware and feature lighting.
Custom made internal joinery was built throughout the house to suit each room in varying high end timber finishes and designer hardware to compliment the modern furniture and personal appeal of each family member.

Modern Italian designer light fittings were used as feature pieces in the open, living and kitchen area as well as the library and central stairwell. A super white marble and stainless steel bench tops with electric drawers centres the room, along side matt black polyurethane cabinetry for the pantry and dove grey polyurethane finishes for the cupboards and drawers. Silver grey tumbled edged travertine was used internally and externally on the flooring to add continuity and charm to this home. The bedrooms, staircase and landings were carpeted in a thick wool sisal mix to add texture and warmth. All skirting, handrails and doors were painted in Domino semi gloss finishes against Vivid white walls.
All existing entry doors were replaced with oversized steel doors which were installed to add height, light and modern touches to this home. A large office was built in on the upper floor and the library floor was stained in a black japan finish with new fireplaces in the living and library areas. Two double garages with self contained granny flats were built at opposite ends of the house which have front and rear access creating the perfect retreat for guests. Custom made black wicker furniture with designer fabrics were made to suit the outside entertaining area at the front of property which retained it's character with an oversized porch and old timber floors which were re polished. A six meter ornamental pond finished in mosaic tiling was designed to hold feature sculptures to showcase the clients love of art. A mix of Carrara sculptures and Belgium clay stones were installed to float as a feature in the rear courtyard.

Landscaping and sculptures were installed throughout the properties large garden in the front and back. Feature stonewall cladding was used around the garden beds and entertaining areas. All fencing was replaced in a pre-stained mod wood to suit the close proximity to the beach. Feature planting, paint finishes externally and internally were chosen to compliment and modernise this home. A palette of Timeless grey, Domino black and Vivid white were the primary colours. Steel, copper and carrara marble were used as primary materials externally in the landscaping.

Glass awnings and retractable shades were built for the exterior area to allow entertaining outside all year long. This was an amazing project to be a part of creatively and an absolute pleasure to work on. Please note once all external landscaping is complete there will be more images available to showcase the entire property on this job.
